Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting

UAF Accounts ImageCollege of Business students, who meet the prescribed degree requirements, will be awarded the bachelor of business administration degree in accounting. Students are required to complete a minimum of 51 semester hours of general education requirements, as well as the specific major requirements for a total of 126 degree hours. Students should complete the freshman and sophomore courses prior to the junior and senior level business courses. Students need to work with an advisor in the selection of the upper-level accounting major courses.

Students can complete the bachelor of business administration in accounting degree by satisfying the University requirements and the College of Business specific requirements:

  1. Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.25 and a grade of at least a "C" for each course offered by the College of Business, including core and major requirements, based on the last grade earned in each course.
  2. Maintain an overall GPA of 2.25.
  3. No more than 50 percent of the minimum courses required for a College of Business baccalaureate degree may be taken within the College of Business. Up to six semester hours of economics, three semester hours of statistics, three hours of computer literacy, and one hour of MGMT 1201 Planning for Success may be counted as part of the general education curriculum.
  4. All candidates for baccalaureate degrees in the College of Business are required to take a designated major field assessment test. This test is administered as a part of the capstone COBI 4813 Strategic Management course. Scores earned on the test may become a part of the course grade; taking the test is a requirement for course completion.

150 Hour Plan to Satisfy CPA Exam Requirements

Educational requirements to sit for the CPA Exam include a minimum total of 150 semester hours of coursework. One way that Accounting students who plan to sit for the CPA Exam can meet this requirement is to pursue a double major in accounting and business administration. In addition to the 126 hours required for the accounting degree, College of Business students who complete 24 hours of additional specified course requirements will be awarded the bachelor of business administration degree in accounting and business administration.
